I dream of sleeping...

Is it Friday yet?

I am so ready for the weekend. I really just want to veg and sleep. Two things that I normally never do. I can't wait for Tim to come home too. It's been a busy work week and busy also with classes. The kids are holding their own especially the older ones. I am so proud of them. Thank goodness for mothers, my mother especially who helps me with Sarah while I am at work during the day. I am looking forward to curling up in a blanket, in front of the fireplace and taking an afternoon nap. I am off on Friday so maybe I'll get an early start. No painting this weekend, except for homework which I think I'm going to try and crank out before Friday. Peace, love and sleep!

Still life with reflection. This class is still pretty tough but I think it's getting gradually better. I still need to work on getting the perspective and elipses right. Over all I'm pretty happy with this one. It's a silver ice bucket with a wine bottle and a manzana. I don't drink, but after this one, I was ready for a nice glass of vino.

Boring......

still life homework...at least I can now use more colors. My shadows are screwy. Trying to get accurate perspective and all that is really tough. I much more prefer my twisted perspective. I call it AIW (Alice in Wonderland) perspective. Painting with no rules is much more fun. I guess that explains why I love Picasso and Matisse so much. Picasso didn't care that his portraits of women looked like cyclops...he just enjoyed painting them. I think I'm venting a little here, so bear with me please. On a much funner note... I added a new artist to my guest gallery on sandiafria.com. She is Karin Momberg (Chilean/Spanish) artist. She has a very fun, happy style. check it out and send her a greeting. oooh yeah more scoop on Timmy he told me last night that he asked a Senior girl to Homecoming and she said yes. If I was a man I'd be giving him a high five (I think), but as a mom I wasn't sure how to react so I just said. REEALLY ...are you sure? a senior? who's d

can't sleep...

After a long day I thought I would write a little here... I was up early this morning getting Tim off to the airport. Came home watched a little HGTV, with my cafecito... I always get a little decorating/diy fix on the weekends when I can sneak it in. Made some pancakes for the kids, the house was a bit of mess from the party on Saturday, I cooked up a huge pot of chile verde, enchiladas, frijoles and arroz w/gandules for my sister in law who is just starting off as a teacher, instead of Bday presents family brought gifts for her 3rd grade students. She is going to be an awesome teacher! (she's also my webmaster) She has taught me so much and now I am even experimenting with new things and learning code. I added music to the home and about the artist page. It takes while to download but I love the guitara from emerging artist Guillermo Serpas . (Salvadoran guitarist out of Miami, sounds kind of like Gypsy Kings... lots of flava) ...I've no energy to clean today so I de

Sofrito For Your Soul debut!

Image
Thank you George Torres! Your vision for SofritoForYourSoul.com lives in this painting. Mil gracias for the opportunity to share my work with you and the many visitors of SofritoForSoul.com. The layout looks wonderful. I was up doing homework and posting to the blog and remembered that the 15th was the debut date! What a special treat!

This is actually the "movement" picture I used for class assignment. It's Millie going after her bone.

Isn't this cool? I was supposed to be taking pictures of things moving and capture the movement using a slow shutter speed. I tried to get Sarah's fish to move but it's a beta and it's sooo slow... cool picture though.

Mesa De Mama instead of Homework...

Image
I am supposed to be finishing up my homework for still life class, but instead found every excuse under the sun this weekend to put it off. I started 2 paintings for class, but have yet to finish them. Don't know what's wrong with me? I think it's because the color palettes have been so limiting I am having a hard time getting the homework done. I even cleaned out Sarah's fish tank (poor little fish had been swimming around in murky water for weeks, we'll see if it survived in the morning, he was doing a little bit of the backstroke), finished two paintings including this one. What else?... I put about 10 little plants in the ground, pruned and repotted a rose bush that my neighbor gave me, did groceries, bought pumpkins, took my dad to buy a lawn mower, church, Timmys football game and did 4 loads of laundry, walked millie, watched an old Navy movie with Tim, bathed Sarah, updated my blog. I always do this when I procrastinate a project, I work on everything els

Finished "Frida with a Gold Earring" , just listed her on Ebay! 5 day auction only. I warmed up her face little and darkened the blue background a little too. It is so interesting to see on Ebay the different variation of Frida art out there. Every artist has their own interpretation. One of my favorite artist is Brazilian artist Cris Melo. She is newly featured artist in my Guest Gallery. Check it out.

New Camera!

Image
New Toy!...part of my homework this week was to take a picture of my computer mouse. I was trying to capture some thing using mirrors and instead captured a fun picture and as always a special little girl who is always nearby! (Thanks again amigas the new camera is in the shot too!)

camera woes

Don't you just hate it when you are working on something and everything just goes the wrong way. Yesterday I was working on pictures for Digital Photo class and my 2 yr old obsolete HP decided to die on me. I thought it was just the batteries, so I ran out at 9pm to Safeway to get new ones... Sarah begged to tag along and had "mocos" dripping from everywhere. So I picked up some childrens cold syrup too. Then I remembered we were out of dog food, so I picked up a bag too, but in the process of picking up the bag the bag of dog food spilled all over aisle 3. Sarah said, "mom don you theeng you shuuld clean ub da mess?" long story short... I get home put Sarah to bed, start again with camera only to get a error message on the lcd screen. Tim was on the computer so I couldn't get tech help until HE was done, then when I did get a tech online... we were disconnected 5 times. Talked to 3 different people, had to repeat 3 different times. So much for customer serv

New Frida, she much larger than the mini's I've been doing. She is 12x 12 inches with 1.5 inch deep sides. She's laying on her tummy. I thought I'd preview it in the blog before putting her in the gallery. I still need to touch it up with a few final strokes.

And guess who's little toes these belong too?... my other shadow.

Silly Millie being nosey. I was taking pictures of the door of all things for digital photo. class and look who poked her nose out. She's become my shadow everywhere I go ...there she is too.

Lost in China? My handpainted candela base is lost in China. After all the time spent on the detail! It is probably on some unknown persons mantle as I type this. I made one for a special customer as a gift for his wife and he told me it was stolen from customs. Everything else arrived okay, but somebody must have really liked the candela and snatched it. I don't know if I should feel good or bad about it ...So long as I don't see unauthorized reproductions showing up at Target or Ross! Sheesh!
