Los Pollitos Dicen, Pio Pio Pio (RED Project #8)

Image
Red Project, #8 "Pio Pio Pio" Los Pollitos Dicen, Pio Pio Pio available in my Etsy shop Was thinking about my kiddos today as they are all no longer little kids... and how blessed I am to have watched them grow into young adults.  They are 24, 20 and the youngest a preteen (sigh). We were talking the other day about Christmas carols and how all the ones they learned growing up were in Spanish. The girls are gonna sing them for Christmas this year. (At least I hope they do) I miss them as babies and when we used to sing songs. This is one of them that goes along with this little ink drawing. Repeat all verses . Cuando se levantan, dicen mamacita, tengo mucha hambre, dame lombricitas.

Lead us to a place... the prayer

Image
"Palomita de Paz" RED Project #7 Sharing a beautiful song... The Prayer. I'm sure you've heard it before... although this  version is sung by a child (Rhemma Marvanne)... so angelic. God bless those that mourn and those that are are afraid. My favorite verse " When shadows fill our day... Lead us to a place ... Guide us with your grace ... Give us faith so we'll be safe". .   The Prayer (lyrics) I pray you'll be our eyes   And watch us where we go   And help us to be wise     In times when we don't know Let this be our prayer when we lose our way     Lead us to a place     Guide us with your grace   To a place where we'll be safe La luce che tu dai I pray we'll find your light   Nel cuore resterà And hold it in our hearts A ricordarci che When stars go out each night L'eterna stella sei Nella mia preghiera   Let this be our prayer Quanta fede c'è   When shadows

In memory of the children

Image
Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,  for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”   In memory of the children. 12/14/12  I painted this piece "Ascension of the Innocents" a couple years ago after a dream I had. In that dream there were souls of children ascending to heaven carrying red balloons. I remember that at that time I was very fearful of death and I'd like to think that this dream came to me because it showed me that death was not something to be feared. That God in his mercy carries souls to heaven in the most peaceful of ways.... especially the souls of innocent children. We are all God's children regardless of age... he loves us all just the same.

RED Project #6 Corazon (anatomical heart)

Image
RED Project, #6 "Corazon" size: 3x3 inches mixed media: red and black ink and pencil on cardstock My heart breaks after all that happened today . So sad. Praying for the children who lost their lives and those who mourn them. God help us as a society. This shooting is so senseless. I can't wrap my head around it. All I can say is my heart hurts for those that are affected by this. We need to take care of our children as parents. I don't know what was wrong with the  person that did this, but I have to believe that had he gotten help for his mental anguish and inner turmoil, this might have been avoided. Parents pay attention to your children and the signs that they let off. Seek mental help, counseling through you church, county mental health agencies, etc. These services won't seek you out. You have to make an effort to find them. Here is a list of some sources for talking to children about violence and death.  The American Academy of

RED Project #4 "Lotus"

Image
RED Project #4 "Lotus" 3x3 inches, red acrylic, black ink on cardstock. available at auction in my Ebay store.  auction ends: (Dec 20, 2012 13:42:29 PST) The lotus is flower is  flower with many different meanings to different religions. In Buddhism, lotus flowers mean purity of speech, mind and body rising above the waters of desire and attachment. Different colors of lotus are symbolically used to represent aspects of perfection. Red in lotus represents the heart--its purity, original nature, compassion, passion, love and other qualities. I love water lotus flowers. To me they represent beauty that emerges from water that is often times murky and even muddy. How something so beautiful can come from such murky water is a miracle of nature. A reminder that beauty and peace can come from the darkest and ugliest experiences.
