Colors in Nature Series #5 Yellow

This latest color comes from a beautiful sunflower from a bouquet of flowers that had seen better days. My friend Olivia graciously gave it to me for this color study. Thank you Olivia :) AMARILLO - Yellow

Today I crossed paths with these little purple "forget me nots" perfect for this color series study. Also notice how purple and green show up naturally. They are true complementary colors on the color wheel . Morado - Purple

Colors in Nature Series, Black #3 I didn't have to look far for these. I have black river rocks in my desktop fountain. Different shades of grey and black. They bring natural beauty inside. Negro - Black

Colors in Nature Series #2 Cafe Brown

Color Study #2 So in an effort to get myself away from my desk during the lunch hour. I've been using that lunch time to go for short walks, breath in some fresh air and do a natural color study. Today I came across some dark chocolate browns, khaki tans, burnt umbers, cafe, and some orange browns. The trees are already starting to turn to their fall color schemes. What's in the pic? a maple leaf, oak tree acorns, dry eucalyptus berries, tree bark, dry manzanita shrub leaves and one other shrub that I don't know the name for. This exercise is really opening up my eyes to natural color palettes. By the end of this I hope to have a full color wheel! CAFE - BROWN

I love to use the colors that are naturally found in nature in my paintings. I am doing a color study so I thought I would start with my favorite.... Green. The image is from ginko leaves and green pepper berries from a pepper tree. (courtesy Stanford University campus) Verde - Green
