Boring......

still life homework...at least I can now use more colors. My shadows are screwy. Trying to get accurate perspective and all that is really tough. I much more prefer my twisted perspective. I call it AIW (Alice in Wonderland) perspective. Painting with no rules is much more fun. I guess that explains why I love Picasso and Matisse so much. Picasso didn't care that his portraits of women looked like cyclops...he just enjoyed painting them. I think I'm venting a little here, so bear with me please. Posted by Hello

oooh yeah more scoop on Timmy he told me last night that he asked a Senior girl to Homecoming and she said yes. If I was a man I'd be giving him a high five (I think), but as a mom I wasn't sure how to react so I just said. REEALLY ...are you sure? a senior? who's driving you ... me? Timmy " of course not she has car"... I felt really stupid, I said "of course she's a senior". So I may have to have a serious talk with him. Although Tim already had that "talk" with him. I may just give him a "refresher" talk... typical mom... so overprotective of her baby boy.

I was commissioned to do this special little painting of El Cipitio of El Salvador. It's my interpretation of a small postage stamp that El Salvador put out several years ago. "El Cipitio" 8x10 inches acrylics on canvas El Cipitio (From Wikipedia) El Cipitio es un cipote (niño) de 10 años con un estomago bien grande. "Who are you today, Maria?"

I've been wanting to post a little blurb on this for while but didn't want to jinx myself until it was finalized. McDougall Littell Publishing is publishing this painting alongside a short story by latina author Judith Ortiz Cofer . It will appear in a their Language Arts, 8th Grade Literature 2007 edition (expected sometime in the spring). The title of the story is "Who are you today, Maria?". I can't wait to see it and read the rest of the story! I've never met Judith Ortiz Cofer, but I've started reading her books and poetry. At some point I might even get the courage to email or call her. I am such a chicken when it comes to things like this. I feel like I can officially say and respond to that eternal question "Who are you today, Maria?"... Today I am a published artist! yippee! Thank you McDougall Littell and Judith for the opportunity.
