You know when you have a song on your mind and you just can't stop singing it. Well this song was my inspiration for the painting "Corazon de Melon". (Click on the picture and you can then hear a clip of it. ) It's actually a Cuban mambo song by Perez Prado. Somewhere in the depths of my memory as a child this song has just come bubbling up. Mambo music is embedded in my soul and being. I can remember having family gatherings during Christmas and my tio Neto (Ernesto) dancing with his wife Carmen to Perez Prado music, (the same way that Elaine danced on Seinfeld.) His fancy moves always cleared the dance floor. I'm really happy I found this ... I think I'm going to download it to my mp3 player. Oh... and maybe even create a E-card with this music for Valentines E-greetings. (Don't you just love, brain farts?)

Real men wear Choneez

Image
(Ok... I now this is really silly thing to post on an artist website...but what the heck). In my description I said I would post interesting links. One of my most favorite places to visit is Kathy Murillo's, www.craftychica.com , she is an amazing artist, writer and has such a creative soul. She has a full spectrum of links to browse on her links page. This is one of the funnier ones. Will have to buy my hubbie one of these camisas (shirts). "Real Men Wear Choneez", click on picture to go to their site.

"Yo soy tu papa"

Went on a date this Saturday and laughed so hard I practically pee'd my chones, went to see "meet the fockers" goodness, when Gaylord Focker said... in his drunken stupor..."yo soy tu papa" to his alleged son... was definately one of those classically funny movies. I'm not a big fan of Babs, but she and Dustin Hoffman were great in this movie. I think I really need to get out more often and enjoy dating again. Dating my hubbie of course. With a house full of ninos, work, school, dishes, laundry, etc... seems like there is very little time to enjoy down time. Definately recommend going on dates. In the words of my favorite DIY jailhouse bunny... "it's a good thing". ; )

New "Flores" mini painting...I'm selling these new mini paintings on Ebay for very low reserve. Very cute for office or cubicle space needing a little color lift. It's been so grey and dreary around here these past few weeks. I can hardly wait for my garden to start blooming. I am seeing the beginning of tulips and my primroses are starting to open up too.

New Manolo favorite... and I'm not talking about shoes.

Image
New Manolo favorite! and I'm not talking about shoes. I came across this awesome designer... Manolo Velez. If only I lived in LA . My wish list includes "la fantasia" pendant and floating drop pendant. Love his leafy necklaces. To think that all of this creativity comes from his love of his girlfriend that inspired him to make this lovely jewelry. I'll have to email him... see if he is open to online consultation. Click on picture to view his site.

Here is the same Angelita...just a little more close up detail. Those little dots to me represent children's souls on her wings, riding to heaven. I don't really understand why I painted it this way...just did. It's been a interesting week for me. So much to think about. I also just found out that Tim may go to the tsunami stricken area. Just waiting on his CO to let them know if the Navy is requesting assistance from his reserve unit. I think it's a good thing if they do get the request. Sitting at home just watching the coverage and news makes me feel useless...there has to be more we can do beside donate. If it means I give up my hubby for a time then ...that's okay by me.

Angelita de la Guardia

Image
Here she is ... an angelita that I've been working on these past couple of weeks. She is a worshipping, praying angel. I think I may title this painting "Adoracion" or "Angel de la Guardia" 12x24 on canvas, acrylics. These past couple of weeks, I've been thinking about and praying for all those children now orphaned after the tsunami. No mothers to hold them at night, or comfort their pains and fears. I pray that their guardian angels protect them and keep them...help them to make it in a time of so much uncertainty. I pray that the right people find these kids and give them the protection, love and nourishment they will need.

Yesterday was Dia de Los Reyes, it's was also my Erika's 13th Birthday! She is the only one who gets gifts on this day but I think that going forward I will make it a special treat for all three kids. I came across this site that describes how this special day is celebrated in Puerto Rico. It's also a great site to browse. I am so sad that the nacimiento and my paper mache Reyes will be coming down.
