New Aceos

I just added a few more galleries to my site , (check out the ACEOs page) not to mention I've been tinkering with the look and colorscheme. Here is one of the new angel aceos I painted this weekend:

Lotus colored pencil drawing

Image
3x5 inches, colored pencil drawing on paper. Haven't had much time this week to paint on canvas but I was able to do this little pencil drawing. I love the lotus flower and peaceful they are. It's amazing to me how such a pretty flower can emerge from even the murkiest of water ponds. She's available on Ebay.

New Painting - Loca

Image
New Painting Title: Loca dimensions: 16 x 20 inches Medium: acrylic on canvas Been living vicariously through my paintings. If I weren't so afraid of pain I might consider tatoos like these, but I am so, the tatoos live on in my work. :) She'll be going to Ohio for a dia de muertos exhibit.

pencil drawings... new medium

Image
Spent the weekend trying new mediums, just to challenge myself with new ways of creating art other than paint. I tried paper clay yesterday and today colored pencils. Here are my results. The drawing is called "Raices" which means roots in Spanish. It's an image of artifacts found in Mexico's Teotihuacan. I've always been fascinated by Mexican and Central American antiquities and history. I remember going to Tulum about 20 years ago and being in awe of the ruins and the color that was visible on some of the walls even after centuries the colors were still clearly visible on the wall paintings inside the ruins we visited.Funny how I can't remember what I ate for breakfast yesterday, but I can remember colors of ruins I saw 20 years ago. Go figure? Selective memory I guess.

Playing with paperclay...

Image
Been clearing out all of my art supplies, throwing out dried up paint and I came across a package of paperclay that I bought many months ago. Well today was the perfect day to give this medium a whirl. I made the body out of crumpled foil and then molded the paper clay around it. I love this medium it's so smooth and very forgiving. I massaged this little bird until I got my desired shape. (I like that he has fat little feet) Here he is drying in the window and then getting first coat of primer. Tomorrow I'll paint him. Not sure yet on the color. But I am leaning towards one solid color. The white is nice too... can't decide... what to do ? what to do?
