Not with child but with a new website! (sorry Mom/Tim didn't mean to scare you with the title) Crazy girl over here strikes again.....So you all know that I am a big fan of all forms of Latina art, so much so that I've got a pretty big list of links on my Sandiafria.com links page. In my frustration to find a single place on the internet that showcases solely Latina artists and not having been able to find one. I decided last night at (3am) that I would simply create one. Not just a page full of links but a placita or piatza "a place to mix and mingle" (I took that piatza line from "You Got Mail" movie.) Sorry but I just had to throw that in there. If you are a Latina Artist, emerging, established or somewhere in the middle and would like to be included on this website. Please send me an email or comment on this post. My hope is that it develops not only into a place where Latina Artist converge, but a place where we can learn, share calls for art, list o...
Friday the 13th?

Does it matter that today was Friday the 13th? No... because with the luck I’ve had these past few weeks you would think it was Friday the 13th everyday. No really… just to name a few: 1) I ran over my favorite pair of black glasses, so I’ve been blind for a few weeks, wearing my old glasses from like the 80’s (not a pretty picture). I prefer to squint. 2) the dog (our new precious baby Ms. Mimi) pee’d on my sweats…my fault for leaving them on the floor. 3) got a ticket for parking in front of my own house. I never ever park on the street, the one day that I did … I got a stinkin ticket. (Tim’s fault he took up the whole driveway) 4) I missed my freeway exit twice this week… why? Because I was singing so loud and distracted I missed my exit. Twice! I made myself late to work twice in one week. I really need to ditch that old Ricky Martin CD. But I love that “Maria” song “un pasito pa lante, un pacito pa tras…Maria, Maria” you know it’s kind of become my theme song. Sarah enjoys i...

New set of ACEO cards. The florals are all mixed media, mostly watercolor and acrylics on watercolor paper, the sun is acrylics on a new medium I found. It's actually a recycled piece of vertical blinds. When we bought this house all of the windows had vertical blinds. I hated them so I took most of them down. So I have probably a 10 year supply of vertical blinds that I can use a canvas to paint on. And the the dimensions are perfect for this size painting. They can probably be strung together and be hung on a window. They are all standard Trading Card size. Enjoy. Will be listed later today.

A Picture of Peace There once was a King who offered a prize to the artist who would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried. The King looked at all the pictures, but there were only two he really liked and he had to choose between them. One picture was of a calm lake. The lake was a perfect mirror, for peaceful towering mountains were all around it. Overhead was a blue sky with fluffy white clouds. All who saw this picture thought that it was a perfect picture of peace. The other picture had mountains, too. But these were rugged and bare. Above was an angry sky from which rain fell and in which lightening played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. This did not look peaceful at all. But when the King looked, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush a mother bird had built her nest. There, in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest... perfect peace. Which picture do you think won...

New, "vessel" a simple study in color. available on Ebay. Since I am such a color fanatic I love to play with color and simply see how the colors interact with each on canvas. This is on clay board so the paint glided on so smoothly. This was done this morning while everyone slept. They all up now on this "dia especial" Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mother's out there. Feliz dia de las Madres.

New painting..."Salvadoran Hillside". This one came from me wanting to feel at peace. Sometimes I paint with so much color that after a while I need to paint something like this to cleanse my palette. There is still alot of intense color but there is something very peaceful, bucolic and serene about this painting. I guess it's my spirit wanting peace in my hectic life. It is just a crazy time right now. Between, work, kids, family and everything else that goes on in a normal life...sometimes I just need a break. Tonight this was my break. I think I may put this in my office to remind me to slow down and just enjoy the peacefulness of this green hillside. My visual escape. The painting wraps around the sides, 8x10 inches on canvas.
