Last night I decided I would try a new art canvas, which actually isn't a canvas it's a mini pine wood block. This is the beginning of a series of paintings I will do. This one is called, "Dreaming Maria" I guess since I have a fascination with sleep and not getting enough of it that it had to come out in my painting at some point. Here "Maria" is dreaming of floating on soothing, cool river, just listening to the sound of water tickle her ears. I will be listing my new mini paintings on ebay where I will be offering her at auction. I will also be doing a series of "minis" for Mini Flores, and Millie Minis. (Millie being my Jack Russell Terrier).

"Illusion" art at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Art. I spent last Friday at the MCCLA at their 2nd annual Illusion art show. It was a one day show where 20 or so artists came and performed live art. Very cool to watch and interact with the artists as they created their masterpieces. Watching the white walls come to life with color..was an awesome site to see. I hope I can make it back next year.

Today I spent the entire day in San Francisco. As I got off the bart train a man serenaded me in Spanish with his guitar as I walked past. I visited the Mission Cultural Center at 24th/Mission the heart of the Latino community in the city. It was bustling with people selling their wares and people going places, sounds of salsa musica, babies crying and the aroma of carne asada and pupusas. Next time I'll have to stop and get pupusas from La Santaneca. I met with the MCC gallery coordinator Patricia. She gave me some really good advice and was so gracious. I'll be setting up a table at their holiday bazaar on Dec 11th. (If you happen to in be the city stop by)After meeting with Patricia, I headed off to the Academy, but first stopped by a few other galleries including one called Gallery 444, which now I don't remember if it was on Post or Sutter. (too many street names to remember) well they were displaying artwork for this peruvian artist that I absolutely fell in love wit...

Stanford Multicultural Fair was so much fun! I was so nervous putting my artwork out I can still feel my knees shaking. But thanks to the wonderful people I work with my fears dissipated as quickly as they came. Everyone was so nice and the comments I received were really encouraging.
I don't know why I was so nervous. I guess being "in hiding" as an artist for so long made me freak out. Well nervous no more! Here is a picture taken by photographer of Stanford Report. She captured the display perfectly! Mil Gracias.
