Goodbye Millie we will miss you..... our family is so sad... I've been balling my eyes out all yesterday and I am in tears as write this. My poor little Millie. We had to put her down yesterday. She seems so harmless, but this loveable little girl had a mean streak. She was very jealous of my 4 yr old Sarah. She took a bite out of Sarah thigh (2nd bite incident) and after much consulation with the vet, JRT rescue and SPCA they all agreed that putting her down was our only solution since she was "not adoptable". A year ago when the first bite happened we even went to family doggie counseling with an expert dog trainer. I will never understand why Millie did this. But we will always remember her for her silliness, loveable licks and crazy antics. The house was to quiet this morning, and I dread going home again to an empty house. She brought us so much joy. I am looking for a new baby one that is much more child friendly and am considering a Apple Head teacup Chihuahua or ...

Check out this write up in SF Weekly on the Solo Mujeres show. Friday was the last day of the exhibit ... I drove into the city today with all 3 of my kids to pick up my paintings and we stopped to enjoy some pupusas as well. The painting I did El Rio Me Sustiene was the only one that I had to part with. The others I think will remain in my own personal collection at least for a while. It's ironic that the article talks about the El Rio Me Sustiene. Now I miss it.

New... Artist Trading cards I am working on. I've traded with other artist, but this is the first time I am going to offer them for sale. If you want to own a mini piece of "original" art here is your chance. This one is on thick 80lb paper similar to cardstock and comes with it's own mini sized envelop. Some people collect these the same way they collect baseball cards. I'll be numbering them ACEO 1, ACEO 2 etc... The one reads "Love grows on angels wings" there are little hearts on her wings, her halo and her gown glow with little specs of gold. Hard to see from the scan, but it has an irridescent quality to it. It's mixed media, but mostly watercolor and acrylic.

Thats me standing in front of Cafe Lalo , if you are a " You Got Mail " fan, you know where this is (upper west side). It's where (Joe Fox) Tom Hanks, meets Meg Ryan and she is sitting there with a crimson rose ...you have to see the movie to appreciate the picture. Tim and I hung out here on Monday and just enjoyed walking and eating and checking out little shops. We stopped into Zabar's (also from the movie), except the smell of the cheese and the olives was overpowering.

I've been away and just getting back into the swing of things... still recouping from my little get away to New York with Tim. We had an awesome time just hanging out, we froze our behinds but it was a nice get away. Here are a few pics. I also got to visit Museo Del Barrio and their "Retratos" exhibit. Was able to see 3 of my favorite Latino artists Frida, Diego and Botero. The best part of that visit was sharing it with my amiga Ruth. So sweet and great to finally put a face the name. Ruth you are awesome and thanks for sharing your Saturday morning with Tim and I. They have a great little gift shop and even got to see Kathy Murillo work on display. Her work is beautiful. We spent the weekend visiting museums, shops, soho, the village and Manhattan and a few really good places to eat. If you are in New York you must visit, Plataforma and Esperanto (145 Ave. C, corner of 9th Street) both have great Brazilian food and live musica... let's just say I wanted to get u...

Want to share this new project for Calle Olvera in Los Angeles, CA. I created a separate journal just for it. For those of you familiar with Calle Olvera (Olvera Street) in the heart of LA. this may bring back some wonderful memories. Our family always stops there for dinner and the delicious "taquitos" from Cielito Lindo. The painting will grace the children's curriculum being developed to commemorate the 75th anniversary and will teach kids k-12 about the history of this great place. It is the birth place of Los Angeles. A place that warms the heart and the tummy! Would love to hear your Olvera Street memories too. (click on picture to enter the Calle Olvera project page)
